Set Yourself Up For a More Productive Day!
Jan 04, 2024I want to talk to you about setting yourself up for a more productive day. I just had one of these days yesterday where we wake up and get to the office or hospital and have so many things coming at us that it’s really hard to say, at the end of the day, that we had a productive day. We’ve been putting out fires all day or taking care of patient care which is productive. But we all have goals or dreams that we either want to accomplish in our personal life or professional life that we need to be working on every single day if we’re going to get there. So I’m going to give you tips on how to make your day a bit more productive. Some of it may be common sense to you, but you really do need to put it into practice.
The first thing I want to talk to you about is your morning routines. When you wake up in the morning is the first thing you do is scroll through your phone and getting caught up on what’s going on? Or, do you actually take time for yourself? I have 4 kids and it was much more difficult when they were younger and I was rushing to get everybody out the door. It’s a little bit easier for me now. The kids are in their teens. A few things that will help with that is to have a morning routine. Personally, I like to get up in the morning and have a full glass of water, brush my teeth and I usually like to do my exercises first thing in the morning so I don’t find things that are going to keep me from doing my exercises. Some days are crazy days so I might only have time for 15 minutes. Other days I can do more like 30 minutes or longer if I can. Fitness is a really big part for me.
I like to look over my goals. I look over them at nighttime too because it keeps them top of mind. I make sure I have my day planned out. Granted that could end up being blown. You want to make sure you have that done. If you don’t have your day set up for what is going to work for you, then everyone else is going to have plans for your time and it’s all going to get sucked out. You’re not going to be able to get done what you need to get done. So get up, make sure you’re not focused on social media or e-mails, drink some water, and take the time to just pause. I look at my goals and see what my top 3 things are that I need to accomplish from a business or personal perspective. I like to look at my top 3 actions for each one of my goals and make sure that I’ve incorporated that into my schedule at some point. Then I feel like I’m better prepared for the day.
Now that I’m in my 50’s I take some time for some thought and meditation and think out, plan out, and visualize a productive day. I focus on what’s going to bring the most joy and productivity to me. Some people think that could be selfish because you have to get so many things done for other people. But it really isn’t. If you’re taking care of yourself and what you want to accomplish you’ll end up with much more time to take care of others. So set your day up for a great day by doing those sorts of things is really helpful.
My morning routine is very important to me.
If you’re too rushed in the morning, see if you can get up a little bit earlier. You might say, “Well I’m already up at 5:00.” But, it really can make a difference and you have more control of your schedule than you sometime give yourself credit for.
I hope that helps you somewhat today, especially for those of you with busy weight loss practices and anybody who is having a crazy day. Take time for yourself. Make sure you have some sort of morning routine. Get up earlier if you have to. Make sure you plan for that. I also plan out my whole week on Sundays so that it’s basically all set and then I’m just tweaking it as the week goes along because there’s always things that come up that we’re going to have to take care of.
